1. What Be Safe does

Be Safe lets you tell someone you trust who you are riding with. It sends your driver’s name, vehicle and number plate to a trusted contact over WhatsApp. It is free and always available during an active ride.

2. Get ready before your first ride

When you first sign in, the app asks for a few permissions. Contacts is the one that lets you pick trusted contacts for Be Safe. None of the permissions is required and you can change them later in Settings, but choosing your contacts in advance means you are ready when it matters.

It also helps to tell those people that a message might come, so they know what it means.

3. Using it on the ride

  • Book your seat as usual. Once the driver accepts, you see the full number plate.
  • When the ride is active, tap Be Safe to notify a friend.
  • Your contact receives the driver’s name, the vehicle and the number plate on WhatsApp.

That’s it. If anything feels wrong later, they know exactly which car you are in.

4. More ways the app looks after you

  • Live trip tracking. Follow the car on the map, with a “1 stop away” alert before pickup.
  • Start code. The ride starts only when the driver enters your 4-digit code.
  • SOS. One tap during a ride alerts our safety team.
  • Masked calls and chat. Talk to your driver without showing your real number.
  • Women-only rides. Choose Women only when you search or post.

5. In an emergency

Be Safe and SOS are there to help, but they are not the emergency services. If you are in danger, call 997 for police or 998 for an ambulance in Malawi first.
